Description
The specimen consists of a portion of the stomach, anastomosed to a short length of small intestine;
just below the gastro-jejunal anastomosis there are two punched-out ulcers, the largest being
approximately 1 cm. in diameter.
History
Five-and-a-half years before this lesion was removed, the patient showed symptoms of a
duodenal ulcer. This healed on conservative treatment. Two-and-a-half years ago the patient was
admitted to hospital with a bleeding gastric ulcer, and partial gastrectomy was carried out. The
patient was well until eight weeks before the present admission, when he came into hospital with
gastrointestinal bleeding, and a revision gastrectomy was carried out.
